biography
Ekaterina was born in Tashkent, Uzbekistan in 1983. Almost at the age of 18, she moved with her parents to Moscow. In the capital of Russia she had passed an unusual contrasting path from Specialist to Head of Financial Departments of huge companies, further a career from a Wardrobe Costumer to Costume Designer/Stylist in Film Productions and Circus.
All her life Ekaterina is trying to find her own way, to understand her destiny and value to the world as a person. During this period she was also looking herself as the Chef, Florist Designer, Personal Stylist, Salesperson, Event Organizer. She appreciates every step and experience gained, forming her own characteristics and style with such contrasting features.
It was only after moving to Canada with her husband 2 years ago, when she decided to buy a camera and start trying to take pictures, studying a lot of materials and directions. The shooting vectors also contrast, from Documentary, Reportage, to Photographic Art samples with the play of light, colours, lines, as a real impressionist artist, and somewhere surrealist. Ekaterina makes just her first steps in Photography, although she is trying to observe and capture her pictures from Nature, Still Life, Wildlife, Construction, to Portraits of people of all ages, interests, in different directions, ideologies, representations, single or group.
artist statement
My subject matter is a capturing of this world’s beauty, drawing with a camera, feelings, intuition, different knowledge, some preparation. Whether it is a traditional portrait, design photography, portrait of the flower in the rays or an ordinary pumpkin in surreal representation. I use enough standard methods and materials, any sources of light, adore portable flash. My passion is juggling colours, textures, textiles, reflective surfaces to catch attractive movement and easy breathing, making the lines dance and sing.
In photography, I identify the main significant vectors and points of deepening for expressing myself and my meanings. The obvious is not obvious. To exaggerate the worlds. To breathe with the Meta Universe. To erase the color with color. To break down in contrasts. To be depersonalizing. To find myself. To be disappearing into the Art House.
